Not Rational?

I have a number of issues with what should be (and is, in Microsoft land) a very simple game. First, the game has frozen on me a number of times, where I am unable to play a card, and have to exit the game. This can be annoying (especially so depending on how youre doing). More importantly though, the "other players" (when playing against the computer) are not in the least bit rational. Example: in my last game - the first of a new set, the player to my right was void in clubs on the first card played. The second card played was the ace of spades (!) but no queen was played. You might assume this meant that the player who led the ace would also have the queen. Not so here! On the next play, a club was played and the player on my right played the queen of spades. Any rational player would have played it when the ace of spades was played, but of course, no rational player would have played the ace of spades, even if they were trying to shoot the moon. I have often seen players lead the queen of spades, when they had a choice. Or play our an entire suit, even if the queen of spades hadnt yet been played. I suppose you could argue that playing in a random fashion can be interesting, but if I wanted that, Id play my kids. Overall not worth it.

awsome

Most card games are predictable but this one is very randome. There is no pattern of what my next hand will look like, as it should be. Nice work guys.

Lots of fun

I really enjoy playing this game. It has a very good group of online participants, allowing for challenging, strategic games, with players from around the world. If you like Hearts, this is the version to buy.

Mr.

Hearts by GrassGames is an excellent game and I enjoy it fully. Possibly, it is one of the best card games for computers. I would have loved if I could have replaced the names and photographs of other players, which would have enabled me to mark it 5 star. Hope the next version will have this facility. Best of luck to the producers and programmers!

There are a lot of positive things

However, the play is really slow. Clicking cards on the passing is very clunky and not intuitive.

Hearts

Its Hearts, Game play is fast and clean. Just need more online players. Maybe a rating system.. And general rooms to join.

Hearts by GrassGames V1.6

No way to subtract score when taking all the hearts and queen of spades. Often the queen of spades is lead by an opponent even when there are other cards to lead and the wueen was protected by other spades. If one "eats the queen, can not lead a heart until opponents have lead one.

Pretty

Needs option to show the score

Hearts

If you are a real Hearts player, I would not waste my money on this game. The computer makes totally illogical moves, like leading the queen of spades when you have other leads you could make. or sluffing the ace or king of spades while you still have the queen. Theres no rhyme or reason to the computers play.

Quitters and "Cannot Connect"

Connecting can be a real pain! "Cannot connect" is the most common response about 60% of the time. Why I dont know. Also, too many quitters, who should be tracked and exposed for the rest of us who play to the end. We dont need them! Two "available" players tonight were invited to play. They responded that they did not want to play! Why list and waste time for the rest of us? How about a recall card feature?

decent

I like it pretty well. I play against 3 other computer generated players and they seem to gang up on me instead of spreading the hits around.

Suggestions

Enjoy this game despite the connection issues but that seems to be a network problem. Would be really nice if we were able to see each other as we are playing. An option to play hearts immediately if the Q has been dropped. A ranking system would also be nice to have. Overall, I really enjoy your game and the ability to play and chat with people from all over the world. That part is awesome!

goakes

The first version was great . I was automatically upgraded and the new version and it is terrible. How do I get back to the first version?

Seems better than the original version.

The most annoying aspect of the original version, that the computer players tried so hard, so often, to shoot the moon, and never break hearts or attempt to stop another computer player from shooting the moon, seems improved. The players now seem to break hearts early and often. Some players seem to still be overzealous about shooting the moon, but they don’t seem to succeed as often as they used to. I notice other computer players stopping other computer players now. There is still something I’m seeing far too often, though, that I find annoying about this game. Way more often than should happen, one of the computer players has a much lower score than the other two and the other two computer players seem to “protect” that player by playing in ways to deliberately take points in order to make the game more difficult in a way that normal human players should not. Great AI should not rely on any other information than what would be known to a normal player, and should not treat another computer player differently than the human player. As for options, I’m glad to see the custom game options, but I wish the shoot the moon feature was an option rather than still having to be there. I figure it is because trying to shoot the moon is such a large part of the computer players’ AI that removing it would make them non-competitive. Computer players often do not come out of “shoot the moon” mode even if another player has taken a heart.

Good but n irrating glitch.

This is a good game and plays more intelligently then some of the others I own. However there is a glitch. If you shoot the moon one time out of three it will lock up and won’t score or let you return to the game. If this glitch was fixed it would be one of the best heart games. I give it two stars becasue the glitch is so annoying I don’t play the game. I am using verso 2.20.

Hearts Ver 2.20

When an computer opponent is the last player and is taking a heart trick it still plays the lowest heart card in it hand when it should play the highest. Passing cards should alternate right and left instead of always passing left. You can end a game before it is completed but no counter shows how many times this was done; this statistic is nice to know. I enjoy playing hearts but I have a 71% win percentage over 31 games and lost just 1 time. I think it would be more interesting is you had more of a challenge.

Great except for option settings

I am surprised I always pass my three cards to the player on the left. i think there should be more option settings.

some bugs and problems with the rules

The game is pleasant enough to play, but there are several problems: 1. the AI players are too likely to “shot for the moon” even without a good enough hand, 2. the AI players will diliberately take the Queen of Spades in the second or third trick for no good reason, and most annoying 3. the rule “Hearts must be broken” doesn’t work. The AI players will lead a heart even if they haven’t been broken.

playing hearts against the computer

characters randomly play cards in a manner that definitely is detrimental to their game when they have other cards that they could play which wouldnt afford them any points. Also when going for all the cards, even when it becomes impossible, the character will still play his hand as if he still has a chance to get all the points.

Program needs tweaking

On more than one occassion, the latest version freezes the game. It usually occurs only on the top figure. The only way to resolve the issue is to exit the game and start over. Other than that, the game is OK.
